As the Administrative Support Assistant (Office Automation) assigned to Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Service (PM&RS) at the Miami VA Medical Center, Miami, Florida, you serve as the principal office assistant to the Service Chief and service Administrative Officer responsible for performing a wide spectrum of secretarial and administrative duties to assist the PMR sections at the medical center and three community based outpatient clinics (Broward, Homestead, and Key West).Requirements:
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 02/17/2026.Time-In-Grade Requirement : Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
- For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05.

You may qualify based on your experience as described below:
- Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Performing secretarial or administrative duties such as preparing written reports, memoranda, and correspondence in a final format for distribution; compiles information and data for reports; update guidelines and policies in compliance with procedures, formats and practices; scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings and scheduling conference/meeting rooms; using Microsoft Office software such as spreadsheets, and/or database information obtained from automated and/or computerized processing systems.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note : A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary with some sitting, walking, standing, bending and carrying of light items such as books, manuals, records, papers and charts. Work is performed in an office setting with frequent visits to the PMR areas and other services throughout the Medical Center complex and/or other divisions. The work involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions. There is a certain mobility (walking) factor associated with position in physically visiting, for observation or problem solving, on site locations of the users. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
