Degree: Successful completion of a 4-year degree from an accredited college or university that included or was supplemented by major study in education or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
Or
Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in education, or in a subject-matter field appropriate to the position, plus appropriate experience or additional course work that provided knowledge comparable to that normally acquired through the successful completion of the 4-year course of study described above. NOTE: You must submit a copy of your transcripts.
In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below:
General Experience: Applicants must have at least 1 year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower broadband NH-01, equivalent to the next lower grade GS-04 or equivalent in other pay systems. general experience which is equivalent to Federal experience at the next lower grade (GS-04), level, pay band (NH-01), or equivalent (pay schedule, pay band, etc). Typically, we would find this experience in work within this field that is closely related. General Experience is described to manage the operation of a child care center, select, train, and supervise child care and preschool employees, family child care providers, or other care-giving adults. Develop and implement child development programs, including family day care programs, part-day preschool programs, and before and after school programs. Work with individuals and groups to solve complex problems related to the care and education of children. Assisting with the development, implementation and overseeing all elements of children's developmental program activities to include environment, equipment and experiences within the context of supportive interactions and positive child and growth development for infants, (pre) toddlers, preschoolers, school-agers, youth and children with special needs; awareness of child care regulation requirements, policies and public law and being able to communicate them. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Ideal Candidate:
- Child Development Center operational management desired
- Financial Management/Budget experience desired .
- Data/ Computerproficiency desired
- A bachelor's degree from an accredited college in early childhood education, child development, or related fields is required; or a combination of education and experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of early childhood philosophies, concepts, and developmentally appropriate activities for children ages six weeks through 6 years.
- Knowledge of Air Force/DoD regulations governing child development, sanitation, safety and personnel practices. Must complete all training, security clearances, and medical requirements including Pediatric First Aid with Rescue Breathing.
VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE : Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
