Requirements:
This position has a selective placement factor (SPF) that will be used to screen out ineligible candidates. The selective placement factor is: You must currently be a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the discipline of Fire Protection Engineering, from a State, the District of Columbia, Guam or Puerto Rico. You must provide a copy of your current registration with your application if you meet this requirement.In addition to the SPF and basic requirements, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience as a professional fire protection engineer at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Able to provide leadership and specialized engineering consultation and support for the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southeast (NAVFAC SE) Fire Protection Engineering Community.2) Expertise in independently performing analysis and preparing fire protection engineering designs and specifications for a wide range of Department of Defense shore facility projects.3) Expertise in developing complex fire protection engineering design and analysis utilizing engineering and drafting software.4) Demonstrated mastery of all aspects of fire protection design and engineering including site water supplies, fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, structural fire protection, life safety, building code criteria, inspections, maintenance, and final acceptance testing.5) Possessing in-depth knowledge of specifications, criteria, policy, industry criteria and standards, and standard practices as related to fire protection engineering.6) Expertise in ensuring that the fire protection aspects of a project are constructed in accordance with contract plans and specifications. Proficient in the following construction support activities: review and approve shop drawings, delegated designs, Value Engineering cost Proposals (VECPs), and provide technical responses to Requests for Information (RFIs).
