The full performance, Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) Generalist is assigned to the Department of Veteran Affairs, Veterans Health Administration (VHA). This position serves as an advance technician for outpatient care settings such as; primary care, mental health, and specialty clinics. As an ICT Generalist the incumbent may serve in a medical center, community-based outpatient clinic (cboc), mobile medical unit or may have virtual/remote assignments.Requirements:

Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. Please clearly state your experience in resume.
In addition to meeting the Individual Occupational Requirement, applicants must also meet the specialized experience.
You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-6 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
- Perform observation-based screening and collection of patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel
- Complete approved templates and tools, such as normal result notes and follow up established treatment protocols
- Preparing patients for medical evaluation, setting up equipment, passing instruments and providing treatment during in-person or virtual visits
- Operates specialized medical equipment to obtain diagnostic and therapeutic outcomes
- Thoroughly and appropriately document actions, interventions and procedures in a medical record.
- Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have One (1) full year of graduate education. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)
- Combination: Combination of specialized experience and education: Equivalent combination of successfully completed post-high school education and experience are also qualifying. (TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED)

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
Note : A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.
Physical Requirements: The work involves extended periods of bending, standing and walking. Generally, the work requires recurring physical exertion with assisting patients.
