About the Position: Join us at the United States Southern Command. We provide support to a four star unified Combatant Commander, but are compact enough that our staff also work with senior leadership representatives of our inter-service and (public and private) international partner organizations. Our contribution to furthering our country's relationships with South and Central American Nations are substantial. We are looking for talented individuals to join the US SOUTHCOM team.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1) managerial oversight, advice, and guidance for all aspects and functional areas of military and/or civilian personnel Human Resources programs; 2) extensive knowledge of command missions, programs, priorities and knowledge of human resources, budget, manpower management, strategic planning, and change management, with particular emphasis on human resource concepts, laws, regulations and procedures. 3) evaluating civilian and military human resources business processes, employment policies, and historical practices to streamline and improve quality of services. 4) providing administrative oversight over the Directorate's budget, manpower and personnel programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
