You will serve as a Paralegal Specialist in the Office of General Counsel department of FLTREADCEN SOUTHEAST.The President has ordered a government-wide hiring freeze subject to certain limited exceptions. This position is subject to the hiring freeze. Although we are moving forward with the consideration of candidates, we will not make a selection for this vacancy announcement unless and until the position is no longer subject to the hiring freeze.
Requirements:
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing duties such as: 1) Assisting attorneys in complex litigation including reviewing case files, drafting reports and appropriate motions, researching and writing legal memoranda, pleadings and briefs, developing legal arguments and supporting evidence; 2) Providing administrative and litigation support to Command OGC, including document collection and review as well as preparing papers for Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) cases, and arbitrations; 3) Reviewing, examining, and analyzing case files and requests for legal opinions to identify legal and policy issues and determine the sufficiency and relevance of evidence or documentation and analyzing federal laws, rules, regulations, court decisions, and DON and DOD directives to determine applicability and current status of each legal principle and directive as it applies to the case or the legal matter; 4) Developing and conducting Standards of Conduct and Government Ethics training sessions for employees and managers as required, and preparing ethics guidance and articles for command-wide publication; 5) Serving as the Command's Freedom of information Act (FOIA) Coordinator and respond to FOIA requests and other requests for official information and testimony involving matters in litigation.Additional qualification information can be found from the following Office of Personnel Management web site: https://www.opm.gov/policy-data-oversight/classification-qualifications/general-schedule-qualification-standards/#url=List-by-Occupational-Series
