The employee serves as a Dental Laboratory Technician within the Dental Laboratory Section of the Dental Service at the VA Medical Center located in New Port Richey, Florida.

Requirements:

To qualify for this position, applicant(s) must meet at least one of the qualification requirements listed below:

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Requires one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service. Specific qualifying specialized experience for this position includes using dental laboratory material such as impression materials, plasters, stones, hydrocolloids, waxes, metals, acrylics, porcelain, and similar materials; using laboratory equipment such as hand tools, dental lathes, engines, and hand pieces, furnaces, casting machines, presses, flasks, and related equipment; using precision instruments such as articulators, surveyors, and microanalyzers; and construction of dental prosthetic appliances. SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Successfully completed 1.5 years of graduate education directly related to the work of this position as a Dental Laboratory Technician. NOTE TO APPLICANTS: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study; if that number cannot be obtained from the transcript, 18 semester hours will be considered as one full academic year of graduate study. (Education will not be credited unless transcripts are included with your application package)

COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED): Requires equivalent combinations of experience and graduate level education as described above to fully meet the requirements of this position.

IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment.

Physical Requirements: Physical activity requires bending, utilizing arms and the movement of hands and fingers in a very precise manual dexterity demands of dental technology. Lift 50 lbs., visual acuity is also very important because of the exacting requirements of the work, especially in color discrimination.
