Description:

You will serve as a Model Maker in the Training Support Shops (TSS) of the Engineering Department at the Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center.

Qualification requirements emphasis is on quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

This job has a screen-out element which will be used to determine minimum eligibility for this job. Applicants who do not receive a minimum of two points on the screen-out element(s) will be found ineligible. The Screen-out Element for this position is: Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision. Qualifying experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Utilizing skill in welding, carpentry, and woodworking to plan and manufacture different types of complex assemblies; 2) Reading and following blueprints, sketches, and oral instruction to achieve specific model construction; 3) Identifying design flaws and suggesting corrective measures and possible alternative methods of fabrication; 4) Planning, testing, and installing complete models or prototypes of an electronic and/or mechanical nature; and 5) Determining the best material to use for a given projects.
