The primary purpose of this position is: To directly oversee and participate in the administrative details required to provide efficient and effective customer service for the Joint Special Operations University (JSOU) and Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy (JSOFSEA). Requirements:

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-08, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes broad knowledge of DoD and non-DoD agencies and training programs which participate in the JSOU/JSOFSEA educational programs. Knowledge of the organizational relationships within each branch of service and their respective roles within the Unified Command and facilitates the liaison and coordination process in determining educational requirements, student quota applications/distributions, and statistical data. Extensive knowledge of training principles, techniques, and practices sufficient to determine and schedule training resource requirement (personnel, equipment, and facilities) for JSOU/JSOFEA. Knowledge of technical processes and procedures to assist in the planning and execution of JSOU/JSOFEA programs. Knowledge of and ability to use a variety of programs and databases.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-08 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-09 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the formal education mission of JSOU and JSOFSEA to include objectives, methods, policies, procedures, regulations, instructions, and documentation requirements.
2. Knowledge of military education programs to conduct reviews, analyze findings, interpret data, and make recommendations.
3. Knowledge of and ability to use office automation hardware/peripherals and various training-specific and office automation software programs, tools, and techniques to support office operations and produce a variety of documents such as letters, reports, spreadsheets, databases, and graphs.
4. Ability to analyze automated data products and information to determine adequacy of program or deficiencies thereof
5. Knowledge of support organization functions including billeting, transportation, Morale Welfare and Recreation, food service, supply, budget, and knowledge of official orders preparation, publications, and procedures.
6. Skill of a qualified typist is required. A minimum of 40 words per minute proficiency is required.

PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
