An Associate Director of Actuarial Services, will ensure all actuarial work meets the highest standards of quality, our role helps drive field finance and the operations of our business. By proactively managing and retrospectively tracking the risk positions within the enterprise as well as supporting the strategic goals of the company, you will oversee technical and analytical support functions to help us deliver better care. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

In concert with leadership in different departments, you will provide analytics supported by actuarial modeling, essential for the transformation of care for the neediest populations. Systematically developing business focused finance talent who generate and use information to drive great decisions, you will help optimize performance and ensure accountability through transparency, actionable insights and education, as well as:

  • Oversee the team developing gross margin estimates, including monthly IBNR, revenue and claims cost forecasting, and coordinate with others in Finance on key components of these processes

  • Enhance and streamline the current reserving and planning models and processes to improve efficiency and communication to the field

  • Assist a cross functional team developing the annual plan figures for medical cost, pharmacy cost, and revenue

  • Use mathematical modelling techniques and statistical concepts to determine probability and assess risks to price Medicare services.

  • Investigate changes in underlying service funds with the payer partners

  • Highlight various for opportunities through either medical cost initiatives, revenue cycle management, stars performance, and others while communications those risk and opportunities to the P&L owners

  • Develop and maintain medical cost model to identify cost saving opportunities.

  • Initiate and direct complex cross-functional projects.

  • Provide excellent service in the areas of pricing, forecasting, benefits design, payer relations/contracting.

  • Supervise actuarial analysts to ensure that the goals are achieved in a timely manner. Distribute assignments and conducts performance reviews/check-ins regularly.

  • Manage and direct the efforts of your team and be responsible for hiring, training, coaching, disciplining, managing performance, developing and engaging personnel, in order to maintain a skilled and productive workforce to meet or exceed goals.

  • Performs other duties as assigned and modified at manager’s discretion

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Proven software skills in SAS, R. Python, Visual Basic and SQL

  • Excellent analytical skills with an innate ability to present facts and findings with an independent viewpoint; including willingness to and confidence in presenting non-popular results to leadership

  • Experience leading small to mid-sized team; ability to balance multiple work streams

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite products including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and database software

  • Ability and willingness to travel locally, regionally, and nationwide up to 10%

  • Spoken and written fluency in English

  • This job requires use and exercise of independent judgment


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE CRITERIA:

  • Bachelor's degree; FSA or career ASA designation. Experience may substitute for education on a year-for-year basis above the minimum required

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, statistics, data science or finance preferred

  • Minimum eight (8) years of related experience

  • Experience in Medicare Advantage
